Abstract This collection deals primarily with the Quinerly family of Greenville, N.C. The bulk of the collection consists of correspondence. Letters describe the rainy season and amount of wild game in Guatemala; the Cuban sugar cane industry; a trip to Guantanamo; information regarding an Indian reservation in Oklahoma, including its school and tribe names; the Olympia theater in Miami, Fla.; and life in an ROTC artillery camp in Chattanooga, Tenn. A significant number of letters concern personal and family affairs of the Quinerlys. Letters describe an East Carolina Teachers College commencement and the senior class activities that preceded it, as well as travel to Atlanta, Ga. Legal and financial papers include contracts; a stock certificate for the Greenville Cotton Mills, Inc.; receipts; and a copy of a farm tax assessment. Miscellaneous items include a handwritten history of Pitt County during the Civil War, a handwritten history of Grifton, a blueprint, poetry, and other items.
